Guess what? I didn't buy ANY books in January!

January's no buy- read what you own- was A SUCCESS!!!!!!! I didn't buy any books in January. So no book haul to speak of.

It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I didn't open discount book related emails and didn't shop the kindle store. I did utilize book outlet for our conference silent auction, but it doesn't count because the books aren't for me. Removing the stimuli from my life has enabled me to cut back and when I get really sad that I'm not adding books to my shelves, I go to the library and check some out. It's not the same, but it works.  It also helped that I had access to SCRIBD which enabled me to listen to/read new releases that I could have bought.

A Simple Favor: Review

Let me start off by saying this...I don't often read thrillers.  Why? I have an overactive imagination and a third degree black belt. I'm not the kind of person who needs to feel freaked out or that something is watching me. Also, why I don't do haunted houses.  A Simple Favor is one of those books that you can't put down once you pick it up. It sucks you in and you just have to know how the story ends. I'm normally a pretty vocal reader- I'll laugh out loud at things that are funny, but I said a LOT of bad words while reading this book. There were so many WTF?! moments. I started reading it last night and had to put it down for the night and read something lighthearted(thanks Mutts comics) before bed. I picked it up again this morning, read for 2 hours before work, and finished it on my lunch break.  Wow. The story loops and pulls and wraps you in it so tightly that you won't know who the bad guy really is or if the whole story is just a delusi...

Happy February! I can't believe we are already on day 4. January felt like its own year. Top 3 Books of the Year

There is a great post on Goodreads right now about the Goodreads Team's Top 3 Reads of the Year. I love posts like that because they are so personal. Everyone loves different things for different reasons. Some of the top books are books that were written decades ago, but are new to the reader. I love those.
