Review: The Hazel Wood
This was my first read of 2019 and I don't know exactly how to describe how I feel about this book.
It is wonderfully written. The stories within stories are fantastic. The plot is incredible. The characters feel real. The settings are intricate.. Normally a book with those characteristics would keep me glued inside the story until I finished. Not the Hazel Wood. It freaked me the hell out. To the point where I didn't keep it in our bedroom. I wouldn't read it before bed. I'd stop reading it at least 3 hours before bedtime. Why? It freaked me the hell out. I don't know about you, but this book is full of characters I do NOT want visiting my dreams. All in all a fantastically written book- that I hear is being made into a movie. Best of luck to everyone who goes to see it, this girl will not be one of them.
I give it 4.5 stars. I think this will be a good "gifting" book to someone who loves dark fairy tales.
